Herb and Garlic Infused
MPS Farms Non GMO Canola Oil
I am going to show you in 2 videos how to infuse our Non GMO Cold Pressed Canola Oil. I have done them in 2 different ways. If I am in a hurry and don’t have any on hand, I will make it by heating up the Canola oil in a small pot and adding my herbs and roasted garlic. But if I want to make it without heating the oil, I use the herbs and roasted garlic in cold oil and let it sit a week.
Herb and Garlic Infused
MPS Farms Non GMO Canola Oil
Recipe
1 cup MPS Farms Non GMO Cold Pressed Canola Oil
1T dried herbs of your choice. I used Herbs de Provence in mine
2 large garlic cloves, roasted in the oven with a small amount of oil and then chopped up.
small amount of sea salt
After you roast and chop the garlic add that and the herbs and salt to the oil, in a container with a tight lid. Shake it well and then keep it in a cabinet or just out of the light. And shake it every day for about 5 days and then it is ready to use. When it is almost gone you can add more oil and let it sit again. But after the second time you will need to start from fresh.
This recipe can be doubled or tripled depending on how much oil you want to have on hand.
For the hot method, all you need to do is heat the oil in a small pan with the roasted garlic and herbs on low heat for a few minutes and then let it sit until you are ready to use it. It will not have the rich flavor of the one that sat for a week but will still be good.
This recipe is from my brother in law, CEC Kevin Goodwin
Canola oil is one of the best oils for heart health. It has less saturated fat than any other oil commonly used in the U.S. Check out the numbers: Canola oil has 7% saturated fat, compared to 9% for sunflower oil, 13% for corn oil, and 14% for olive oil.
